Japan's Top Seller

The top selling car in Japan for 2009 was the Toyota Prius. This marks the first time a hybrid has ever been the top selling car in Japan.

The Prius sold almost 210 000 units in 2009, a 285.7% increase over 2008.

Second place goes to the Honda Fit, which sold 157 000 units in 2009
